How white will my teeth go?
Results vary depending on tooth density and lifestyle habits but we aim to get at least 10 shades lighter and often achieve even better results depending on the original colour of a client’s teeth. The procedure works best on tobacco, tea & coffee stains.
Will the procedure make my teeth sensitive?
Mild sensitivity sometimes occurs for a short time after the procedure but we can apply desensitising gel as part of your aftercare, and using sensitive toothpaste will also help.
How long will it last?
Laser Teeth Whitening can last up to 12 months, but this does depend on your lifestyle and how well you look after your teeth. We recommend that you have a top-up every 6 - 12 months to keep your teeth really white.
Does laser teeth whitening work on crowns, veneers or tooth bonded materials?
The teeth whitening procedure will not lighten any of the above but will clean them to their original colour. It should be noted that your own teeth may become lighter than the colour of the veneers, crowns and bridges which may require replacing.
How long does the process take?
The actual procedure takes 60 minutes but including the application and your consultation, it will take around 90 minutes.
Are you a dentist?
We are not dentists, our teeth whitening procedure is a ‘Cosmetic Treatment’ carried out by trained cosmetic whitening specialists. In June 2001, The House of Lords held that tooth whitening products fall within the terms of the Cosmetic Products (Safety) Regulations 1996.
Laser Tattoo Removal
How does laser tattoo removal work?
Laser energy in the form of specific wavelengths of light is aimed at the tattooed areas. The light is pulsed for a fraction of a second sending a shockwave of light through the outer layers of skin to the targeted area of tattoo ink. The light disrupts and shatters the ink, allowing the body's immune system to naturally break down and absorb it.
Does the process hurt?
All clients have differing tolerance levels when it comes to pain. A large percentage of Clients compare the feeling to an elastic band being snapped against the area. Most say it is not any more painful than getting a tattoo put on. For clients who wish to reduce the sensation we recommend taking a mild pain killer about an hour before the treatment.
Will the treatment leave a scar?
With all medical procedures involving the skin there is a chance of scarring, however it is incredibly unlikely using our state-of-the-art laser technology that any scarring will occur.
My tattoo has lots of bright colours, can it be removed?
The laser technology used by Yorkshire Laser & Aesthetics has three different wavelengths enabling it to remove most colours. Blacks, blues, reds are the easiest to remove while pastels, greens and light blues may not be removed completely. When you attend your free initial consultation we will give you a full appraisal of the service we can provide, including the estimated number of treatments necessary. We are committed to removing our client's tattoos as quickly and cost effectively as possible.
How many treatments will it take?
There are a number of factors that influence the number of treatments necessary to remove a tattoo they include the tattoo age, the type of ink, the amount of ink, the depth and the colours used. Most amateur tattoo require between 6 and 8 repeat treatments while professional tattoos can require as many as 12 sessions, although they may take more than this. At your free initial consultation our expert will give you a full appraisal including an estimation of the number of treatments necessary.
Why should I wait six - eight weeks for my next treatment?
Once you have received a treatment it is important that you allow your body's immune system enough time to break down and absorb all of the disrupted ink particles. If you have treatments sooner than four - six weeks, you are simply wasting your money by not receiving the full benefit from each treatment.
How long does the treatment take?
This depends on the size of the tattoo; a small tattoo might take 5 minutes, where a large or multiple tattoos could take an hour or more of treatment. Again, the assessment will provide this information. Allow about 30 minutes for your initial consultation.
What are the costs likely to be?
The cost of a single treatment will depend solely on the size of the tattoo. The bigger the area, the more time it will take to treat and the higher the charge. Prices start from £40 (for a 6cm x 6cm size/area). Again, until we can see the tattoo, we cannot measure the area or price the treatment.
Can I remove a name from a tattoo?
Our laser technology allows us to accurately remove any part of a tattoo that you request.
Can you fade down my tattoo allowing it to be covered up with a newly designed tattoo?
Yes we are happy to fade down tattoos. It normally will only take just a few treatments to be ready for a cover up tattoo.
What should I expect after the treatment?
An instant whitening of the skin is seen after treatment but this generally fades quickly. The area will feel tender for a few hours and could be red or raised for up to 48 hours. Some tattoos will form a scab which must be left to heal naturally.
The tattoo will not look very different initially, but will fade over a period of weeks after each treatment as the body disperses the ink particles. It is necessary to avoid sun exposure or to use a high protection sunscreen for two to four weeks after treatment.
Are there any side effects?
In rare cases pigmentation changes can occur leaving the skin whiter or darker. Sometimes a change in skin texture or scarring can occur, particularly if any scabs are not allowed to heal properly. Finally, there is the possibility of a loss of the natural tanning ability in the areas treated. All of these usually improve over time and it is extremely rare for there to be permanent side effects.
Permentant Make Up
What Exactly Is it?
It's an advanced form of cosmetic tattooing that involves microscopic particles of pigment being implanted into the upper layer of the skin to create subtle enhancements or replace features lost through ageing, illness and accidents.
How Is It Applied?
The pigment is placed at a depth of 0.5mm and is visible through the upper layers of the skin. Single or multiple disposable needles are used. There is little or no pain involved. All clients have a patch test prior to treatment
